Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) brings satellite communications to new levels of mobility, performance and reach, in delivering voice and broadband data.
The world’s first truly mobile broadband solution. BGAN uses a small lightweight device to deliver a powerful range of services capable of processing bandwidth-intense and other applications such as: Internet and Intranet access, voice, voice over IP (VoIP), fax over IP (FoIP), live media streaming, videoconferencing, store-and-forward video, email and large file transfer.
Standard IP service offering background IP data at variable rates up to 492 Kbps over a shared channel
Offers high-quality, digital speech compression via dedicated DVSI advanced multiband excitation (AMBE).
The mobile packet data service (MPDS) uses Internet Protocol (IP) and time-shared channels to allocate network resources, enabling cost-efficient, “always-on” remote access at speeds up to 492 Kbps.
A dedicated single channel per carrier (SCPC) service that enables high-speed data applications up to 64 Kbps. Users can connect to corporate IT networks, access the Internet, and send digital images, contributing significantly to efficient business operations and remote communications.

Delivered via the Inmarsat 4 (I-4) network, BGAN services are available worldwide. Each satellite in the I-4 network, the most advanced satellite network available in the world today, has more than 200 hundred spot beams and a global beam, covering 85% of the world’s land mass.
BGAN services are compatible with all Inmarsat approved BGAN devices. BGAN devices range in size, weight, performance and features designed to meet the specific needs of a variety of user groups. BGAN devices are highly portable and able to withstand challenging user environments.
The BGAN services come with a SIM card and a specially designed comprehensive user interface, the BGAN Launch Pad. The Launch Pad simplifies set-up and offers access to all BGAN services and support features making BGAN very simple to operate. The BGAN Launch Pad is uniform across all BGAN devices.
